The Lifestyle Club

TLC offers two diet and lifestyle education programmes — TLC Diabetes and TLC Wellbeing – designed to empower people to take an active role in their health and wellbeing. Each consists of an 8-week course with ongoing support options to help participants develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to make lasting lifestyle changes and improve their health.

How Does TLC Work?

8-Week Online Course

  • DURATION: 8 × 90 min sessions on the same day/time each week
  • DELIVERY: by a trained Health Coach via Zoom or MS Teams
  • GROUP SIZE: small groups of 6–12 participants
  • ACCOMPANYING RESOURCES: printed 100-page handbook & optional WhatsApp group for peer-to-peer support
  • ACCESS REQUIREMENTS: Able to understand English & use email/video conferencing software, with access to the internet via a desktop or mobile device. Every effort is made to support those with special educational needs & disabilities.

The 8 session titles are the same for both TLC Diabetes & TLC Wellbeing, but session topics & discussion are tailored to either diabetes or wellbeing

Important Considerations

  • It is recommended that those with complex health issues discuss suitability for TLC with their healthcare team
  • Participants taking certain diabetes or blood pressure medications may be advised to contact their healthcare team before reducing their carbohydrates
  • For people struggling to lose weight, TLC offers a sustainable alternative to starting GLP-1s but can also be used in combination with GLP-1s to bring benefits beyond maximising weight loss

I have learned so much about food and my relationship with food in the eight weeks and I am delighted with the results I have achieved thanks to this course.

TLC Diabetes Success Story

From the start of the course, we were given the information that enabled me to understand how diabetes develops and why my current eating habits weren't helpful.
 
Despite my nervousness about it being a group session, the support of the other attendees was encouraging and their input meant that topics were thoroughly explored.
 
The course leader was very knowledgeable and explained all the topics clearly, providing links to additional information so we could go into more detail if we wanted.
